If email notifications are landing in your junk or spam folder, you can take steps to ensure they go directly to your inbox. Adding an email address to your contact list signals to your email provider that the sender is trusted. Here’s how you can do it in a few popular email platforms:
1. Gmail
Open an email from the sender you want to save.
Hover your mouse over the sender's name or email address at the top of the email.
Click on "Add to Contacts" (a small pop-up window will appear).
The sender will now be added to your Google Contacts, and their emails should no longer go to spam.
2. Outlook
Open an email from the sender you want to save.
Click on the sender’s name or email address.
Select "Add to Contacts" or "Add to People" (depending on your version).
Fill out any additional details if necessary and click "Save".
3. Apple Mail (iPhone or Mac)
On iPhone:
Open an email from the sender.
Tap on the sender’s email address.
Select "Add to Contacts" or "Create New Contact".
To add the sender to your VIP list, open the Mail app, tap on the sender’s email address, and select "Add to VIP". This ensures their emails are prioritised in your inbox.
On Mac:
Open an email from the sender.
Hover over the sender’s name or email address.
Click the drop-down arrow and select "Add to Contacts".
To add them to VIP, click the sender’s email address and choose "Add to VIPs" from the drop-down menu.
4. Yahoo Mail
Open an email from the sender.
Hover over the sender’s name or email address.
Click on the "More" icon (three dots) next to their email address.
Select "Add to Contacts".
Fill out any additional details and click "Save".
To make the sender a favourite, go to your Contacts list, find the sender, and mark them as a favourite (star icon).
5. Microsoft Outlook (Desktop)
Open an email from the sender.
Right-click on the sender’s email address.
Select "Add to Outlook Contacts".
Complete the contact form if needed and click "Save".
To prioritise emails, create a rule to flag or highlight emails from this sender.
Additional Tip
Mark Emails as “Not Spam”: If an email is already in your spam folder, locate it, open it, and click "Not Spam". This action trains your email provider to recognise the sender as safe.
